WELFARE OFFICER – EMMA WAINES
I trained as an Occupational Therapist, after completing my BSc Psychology Degree 18 years ago. Since qualification I have clinically practiced in a variety of settings across the acute, rehabilitation and community; and in health, social care and mental health fields. In 2010 I began working in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. I currently manage the Occupational Therapy, Early Years Inclusion, Short Breaks and Early Help services for Plymouth City Council. Along with identifying and meeting complex and enduring physical, developmental, cognitive and behavioural needs, a key part of my job is to safeguard the wellbeing of the children, young people and families with whom I work. The support SEND services provide covers the home, educational and community environments. Plymouth Diving is incredibly fortunate to have someone with Emma’s wealth of knowledge and experience volunteer for the role of Welfare Officer. In her free time, Emma practices yoga and is one of the many club members who enjoys wild water swimming.
