Plymouth Divers Delight at Junior Elites
A team of 12 divers from Plymouth have just returned from competing at Junior Elites in Sheffield against the best young divers in the country. The four day event saw the club bring home a hoard of 9 medals.
Finishing 2nd in the preliminary round, Cody Powell-Tuckett piled on the pressure to take the top podium positon, winning gold in the platform event for group A girls.
Aidan Heslop and Tommy Davis for group A boys qualified for the 1m final; both just missed out on medals placing 4th and 6th respectively. Aidan had better luck in the 3m event winning bronze, and silver in a thrilling platform event. To complete the full set of medals Aidan also won gold in the 14 – 18 year old 3m synchro competition with his partner Oliver Crompton from Leeds. In the same event Euan McCabe won the bronze with partner Harrison Hartley from Sheffield. Connor West and Tommy Davis came 6th. All partnerships competed for the first time together.
After qualifying for the group B 1m final, Euan McCabe placed 6th. The 3m event saw Euan bag the bronze. In a very exciting final (with spectacular diving from all) Euan proved to be unbeatable and won the gold on platform.
Zach Anderson won silver in the group C 3m event. In the 9 – 13 year old 3m synchro event, Zach with his partner Todd Geggus from Southend were at the top of the podium claiming the gold.
Other divers who took part and represented Plymouth Diving were Frances Burdett, Summer Radcliffe, Katie Martin, Alfie Brown, Josh Freeman and Josh Gibbs. The divers in this team are coached by Sally Freeman, Claire Burton, Fito Gutierrez or Ashley Hendrick at Plymouth Life Centre.
